Let me tell you my story in pictures...
I grew up in Macau - and got to experience first hand the two sides of Macau that make it famous. Its world-class casinos, and its 500+ years of history as a Portuguese colony.
As an ethnic Goan, I've always had a familial connection to India. I also wondered what living in India would actually feel like - so I spent a few years living and working there. That was one of the most transformational experiences of my life.
Growing up watching Danger Mouse, Yes Prime Minster and Red Dwarf exposed me to British Humour and culture from an early age, and I've retained that affinity ever since.
I love turning new concepts over in my mind - in particular looking at how frameworks in one area e.g. neuroscience could apply to another e.g. computing. Ever since watching Danny DeVito's renaissance man I've loved the idea of diving into different bodies of knowledge.
I started this current phase of my career wanting to be a data scientist, but found myself drawn more towards the strategy side of the business. I love looking at a problem statement and working out the design for getting us to the objectives we need.
My first computer was a x486 machine with 4mb of ram. The first ever thing I typed was "hello" and got "bad command or file name" returned to me. I thought I had offended the machine - and spent the next few months feverishly learning how to speak to it. I've since branched out into how technology can be used as a tool to help move us foward.
Growing up, I did not have access to English bookshops - so when I first came to the UK I found them absoluately magical. My mainstay is science fiction and fantasy (typical) - but am increasingly looking at books that help me think about the future of humanity.
One of my goals is to visit truly ancient forests - the UK has precious few of these at the moment. Ever since reading "The Hidden Life of Trees" by Peter Wohlleben I look at the natural world around me very differently.
I was raised as a Catholic, and do believe in the divine and its manifestation on earth. I am also a fan of comparative spiritual thought, and love learning about how different religions interpret divinity.
